CULTURAL EXCHANGE CONCERT

“Join us for a captivating musical performance by the students of Conservatorium Maastricht, Maastricht University, Confucius Institute Maastricht, and Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. This spring concert will bring together talented musicians who will showcase and exchange diverse cultures through a variety of instruments!”

This event is free for CIM students and alumni and students from Conservatorium Maastricht.

Community opera
Together with local residents, Opera Zuid creates an annual community opera based on the lives and stories of people in Maastricht, with the Malpertuis district of Maastricht as its home base. The personal stories of the residents and music are brought together in these unique performances by director Tamara Jongerden, singing coach and assistant director Ginette Puylaert and musical director Tim Sabel to form the music-theatrical Buurt Opera Malpertuis (BOM).

Participation
But BOM is more. There is not only a special encounter between local residents and Opera Zuid and its surroundings. There will also be a surprising encounter between local residents, opera singers and young musicians from the Maastricht Conservatory. This makes BOM, in the words of director Tamara Jongerden, ‘a participatory, social, artistic music theater project, in which opera is used for, by, with and about the residents of the neighborhood themselves.’

‘Van Bach tot Piazzolla’ In 2020 richtten harpiste Anna Pilleroni en mandolinespeler Eugenio Palumbo het KhromaDuo op. Samen willen ze het repertoire voor mandoline en harp herontdekken. Anna straalt elegantie en discipline uit en Eugenio’s expressieve spel bulkt van de virtuositeit. Samen vormen ze een onweersteenbare combinatie in de muziek van Bach, Beethoven, Andrès en Piazzolla.

About PAS

This the ninth edition of the Pleasure, Art & Science Festival (PAS). Since 2014, Maastricht University has been opening its doors at the start of the academic year to treat everyone from the city and the region to a programme filled with interesting information, great music and theatre, and much more.
We’ve had to wait a while, because in 2022 PAS became a biennial festival, but our patience has been rewarded with the expansion of the programme to include two extra locations and a special children’s programme on Saturday afternoon, which has been compiled with great enthusiasm by the Studium Generale team.

After a full week of rehearsals. the percussion students of Conservatorium Maastricht will finally present the result of their hard work on Friday 12th of April at 17.00 in Willem Hijstek hall.

Experience a whole word of colours, richness of sounds, wide dynamic rage and visual spectacle!

G. Crumb - Madrigals and three early songs

The concert has been given the unusual title 'Phinyl', referring to the interweaving of the Philharmonic's modern musical repertoire with the retro 78-rpm records of the 1960s. The evening's musical menu consists of an enjoyable listening programme of classical and light music.

From Abba to Bizet and from Pink Floyd to Toon Hermans: you are going to hear it all. A true trip down memory lane!
